Paintings inspired by photographs
A surprise present for the client's parents, who had been married 50 years earlier. This painting began with an exceptionally challenging source photograph. It was so obscure and faded, at first glance I couldn't even tell that the groom was wearing glasses!
However, after some digital augmentation of the original photo, some detective work using other photographs, and a great deal of creative spirit, I had a plan that drew inspiration from the original photo, but allowed room for artistic re-interpretation.
I completed the painting in time for its grand presentation at the anniversary party.
